VICTORVILLE
High Desert Homeless Service - The shelter is able to accept single men and women, families, single mothers with children, and single FATHERS WITH CHILDREN!!! I emphasize this point as many locations are not able to accept single fathers with children, only single mothers with children. Additionally, the provider does not allow their residence to spend ANY money while participating in their 90-day stay as all meals and snacks are provided, multiple laundry machines are available (with detergent provided). Their idea is to allow for the residents to save as much money as possible in the 90-days. For those seeking employment, the residents MUST be actively searching for work and the provider has an on-site resource center with computers/printers for job and housing searches. Residents ARE able to remain on-site during the day (something shelters near VALLMC do not permit at this time). The facility appeared clean, had multiple areas for the children to play, and separate sleeping quarters for men and women.
