Third District 2024 Woman of the Year: Raven Hilden
“In honor of International Women’s History Month, each year the Board of Supervisors nominates five candidates from each respective district. It is organized to recognize and celebrate women’s social and economic accomplishments throughout our county, and to highlight women who consistently put their community first.
This year, I had the privilege of honoring Raven Hilden as the Third District’s recipient for Riverside County’s 2024 Woman of the Year Award.
Raven is an involved community member and her dedication to servant leadership has helped create programs that truly make a positive impact in the lives of others. Raven mentors, encourages, and uplifts both men and women alike. She is described as “a great resource for individuals to learn how to operate a nonprofit, become a valuable member of their community, and develop a servant’s heart”. Her passion for helping others shows in the difference she continues to make within the community. Raven’s leadership has paved the way for MilVet’s success and has built it up to the extraordinary service organization that it is today.
We are honored to call Raven Hilden the Third District’s 2024 Woman of the Year!”

What an absolute honor! MilVet won NONPROFIT OF THE YEAR at the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber awards tonight!
I am so proud of our MilVet team and volunteers that work tirelessly and pour their heart and soul into all they do. Our success is possible because of them, our amazing community, the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber and all of our supporters.
Above all I am grateful for our brave men and women in uniform who have served or are currently serving - we do what we do for them.
Congratulations to the other nominees - there are so many amazing organizations that do so much. I'm so thankful to be a part of such a giving community.

Catholic Students Collect Military Care Package Items

Local Catholic schools hope to make the holiday season a bit brighter for members of the U.S. Navy deployed far from home.
Schools from the Diocese of San Bernardino are teaming up to write letters of encouragement, send care packages and ship small Christmas trees to a group of medical corpsmen and others deployed with the First Marine Expeditionary force aboard the USS Essex, USS Rushmore and USS Anchorage.
Tom Strickland, principal at St. James School in Perris, organized the effort. Strickland’s son Kevin is one of the medical corpsmen on the ships that will receive the boxes filled with toiletries, magazines, books, snacks, headphones and other goodies. Strickland said the desire to show gratitude is the reason behind the effort.

A Thanksgiving for Marines

The Valley Resource Center was able to help provide 15 Knott's Berry Farm tickets to A Sailor hosting Marines on Thanksgiving Day. Thank you Nico Melendez, Alex Braicovich, and those who donated for all you do to support our military this holiday season!
2017 Backpack Drive

We provided over 65 new backpacks filled with school supplies to low-income children in SW Riverside County for the 2017-2018 school year!
Our goal is to fill at least 100 backpacks for the next school year. Your donation will fill a backpack giving low-income youth a head start for a brighter future.
Western Center Academy Earth Day Fashion Show
April 17, 2017
The Valley Resource Center partnered with the Western Center Academy in Hemet, CA as the designated 501c3 nonprofit for their programs. We attended their Earth Day Fashion Show, thanks to Shelley Munoz, where students showed off their amazing outfits made from recycled materials. They were absolutely fantastic!
Paul Mitchell Schools volunteered to assist students with hair and makeup while The Arts Institute of California - Inland Empire sponsored the event and donated $350 to the Valley Resource Center in support of our Adopt-A-Troop program. Many thanks!
Valley Resource Center team members, Karyn and Gregg were instrumental in representing the Valley Resource Center. Raven Hilden, the founder/CEO of the Valley Resource Center spoke onstage and the Western Center Academy will be collecting military care package items from students and staff for the month of May and plan to work with the Western Center Academy for a fall Backpack Program for low-income youth. We love working with the community!
